Hoverblox is a modular, autonomous, solar-powered 12-metre cube-shaped aircraft that can stay airborne for weeks and acts as an aerial platform and carries surveillance, communications and heavy-lift payloads. It shifts from one mission to another by changing payload modules rather than airframes.
No. Hoverblox is a modular aerial platform that uses lighter-than-air technology to provide buoyancy and lift capability. That heritage is where the comparison ends. The architecture, autonomy, modularity and edge compute are a generation beyond any LTA craft that came before.
Endurance scales with the mission. In ISR configuration it targets 24-hour flights at full payload with loiter capability; at high altitude it is designed for weeks to months of persistent station-keeping.
Up to 500 kg per unit depending on operating altitude, and scalable across a connected fleet. Multiple platforms can be linked to increase payload and coverage.
Electric fans driven by batteries and charged by solar cells. Leveraging lift from buoyancy rather than powered rotors cuts energy use by as much as 90%, which is what makes such long flights possible.
Safety is built into the physics. Because lift comes from a sealed, lighter-than-air envelope, a loss of power results in a slow, controlled descent rather than a fall. Key flight and telemetry systems carry full aerospace grade redundancy.
